Our Global Cause

Diabetes

Diabetes is a global epidemic

An estimated 537 million adults across the world are living with diabetes, and its prevalence is increasing rapidly. By 2045, the number is expected to reach 783 million. Diabetes is a global epidemic that touches every corner of the globe.

Vision

Vision impacts all ages

More than 2 billion adults and children worldwide have a near or distance vision impairment.* Vision plays a vital role in every stage and moment of our lives. Without healthy vision people struggle to learn, walk, read and participate in school or work. Ever since Helen Keller inspired Lions to champion the cause in 1925, Lions have served and advocated for the blind and visually impaired. A century later, this long-standing mission continues unhindered.

Hunger

Hunger, a crisis with no borders

Hunger affects one in 10 globally* and has devastating impacts. In response to the strain this global hunger and nutrition crisis has on our local communities, Lions around the world serve to improve health and well-being and empower their communities to thrive.

Environment

The environment is our home

The earth sustains human life. Our environment is more than a background: it’s our home. And we’re committed to caring for it. 12M Hectares of forest destroyed each year. 6-7M Number of premature deaths annually caused by air pollution. 1/3 Amount of generated waste that is not safely managed. 17M Metric tons of plastic entered the ocean in 2021. Projected to double or triple by 2040.

Childhood Cancer

Humantarian

The humanitarian efforts of Lions have been notable and celebrated for more than 100 years. Working together, Lions identify the world’s most crucial needs and LCIF supports them in their efforts to provide humanitarian aid where it’s needed most.

Youth

LCIF improves access to quality education, vital health services, and positive youth development for young people around the world. Lions Quest, LCIF’s signature youth education program, is a social emotional learning curriculum which gives students the skills to navigate life and prevent bullying and substance abuse.

OUR LEOS

Where there’s a need, there’s a Leo

“Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.” That’s what makes a Leo. Leos are devoted young people who realize the power of action. Together, Leos and Lions form a powerful partnership; one of mutual respect where Lions learn from the innovative insights of Leos, and where Leos gain access to the proven strategies of those who’ve successfully served the world for decades.

Our youths are making a difference in their communities.

When I attend my lions club And break at the table I gave a million thanks to God To know that I am able to meet there With my fellow man Relax and play and sing To hear the speakers of the day The fine thoughts that they bring I realize that I have a part In caring for the blind Also the underpriviledged Let’s keep them all in mind Now as we do our daily tasks Pray God we do them greatly Then liberty and intelligence Will be our Nations safety
